Who is Clausus?
Claudus was the last Lord of the ThunderCats before Lion-O, and the king of the planet Thundera in his time of splendor. As the biological father of León-O and adoptive father of Tygra, Claudus embodies the royal lineage that Lion-O must honor when he assumes the mantle of leader. Although his presence in the 1985 series is brief, his sacrifice is one of the most emotional moments in the origin of the ThunderCats.
History and Origin
When Thundera is about to be destroyed, Lion-O—still a child—is accidentally sent back in time one day, just before the catastrophe. There he briefly reunites with Claudus, who gives him the plans for the Plun-Darrian Warbot and decides to stay behind to reinforce the guidance system of the Royal Flagship that will safely transport Jaga and the rest of the ThunderCats towards Third Earth. That act of sacrifice seemed to seal Claudus's fate along with that of Thundera, the home planet that would be reduced to rubble.
The Kingdom of Shadows
Far from having perished, Claudus survives as a prisoner of the Shadowmaster in the Realm of Shadows. León-O begins to have recurring nightmares that lead him to suspect that his father is still alive, and he finally manages to locate him. Together, father and son confront the Shadowmaster and manage to free him. Following his rescue, Claudus reunites with Jaga on the Astral Plane, thus closing the circle between the old and new Lord of the ThunderCats.

If Claudus appears in this new version, his arc of sacrifice and redemption would be one of the moments with the greatest emotional potential for a new generation of viewers.
